How long have you been in business?

What is your primary product or service?
Tires and automotive repair.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My grandfather opened Shepherd Tire in 1974 after a successful career as a tire rep with Sears. My father took over the business quite some years later and has grown it exponentialy while still retaining the principles my grandfather had established. I am fortunate enough to be a third generation in our family business and strive to live up to the reputation earned by my father and grandfather. Luckily, my dad Larry is still here every day and I still learn something new from him almost daily.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We've had a great relationship with Manatee county for a long time. As we're third generation, so are many of our customers. It's always nice to hear a customer talking about how their parents or even grandparents have gotten their tires from us for years. When the big box stores moved in we we're a little worried but due to our extensive network of distributors and high volume we have not only been able to remain competetive in prices, but very often we are actually cheaper than the box stores. Add in our expert staff (Our head tire tech has been with us over 25 years and more than half of our staff can boast more than a decade at Shepherd Tire) and efficient service and I can't see why anyone would go elsewhere.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We only have one location and have no plans for expansion. Often expansion leads to dilution of quality service and decreased reliability.

We're just north of Cortez road on 14th St. W. Two doors down from Bob Evan's restaurant.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, Visa / Mastercard, American Express, Discover / Novus, approved checks and girl scout cookies.
Which areas do you service?
Automotive repar, tires.
What are your hours of operation?
M-F 7:45 AM to 5:30 PM Sat 7:45 AM to 1:00 PM Sun Closed
